The Mayan Tzolkin calendar is 260 days - not 365. It's built from 20 day-signs (called Nawales) crossed with 13 numbers (tones), and it's been running continuously in parts of Guatemala since before the Spanish arrived. Your Tzolkin sign is the day-energy you were born into. It describes something closer to your spiritual mission and natural gifts than to your personality type. Most people have never looked theirs up.
How it works
Enter your birth date. The calculator converts it to the Mayan Tzolkin count and returns your Day Sign (Nawal), your Tone number, and your combined reading. The Nawal describes your core nature and gifts; the Tone describes the quality or task of how you carry those gifts in this life.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Tzolkin still in active use?
Yes - Mayan Aj Q'ij (daykeepers) in the highlands of Guatemala use the Tzolkin continuously for ceremony, counseling, and calendar keeping. The count has not been broken.
How is this different from the Western or Chinese zodiac?
The Tzolkin operates on a 260-day cycle, not a solar year or lunar year. The 20 Nawales repeat, but the Tone number modifies them - so the combination is specific. It's a fundamentally different system from either Western or Chinese traditions.
Can I find my children's or partner's signs?

Is this for entertainment or serious study?
